The connection IS created (I can see it in the Internet Explorer settings dialog) and it works, but it is not added to the "Network and Dial-up Connections" folder. I don't miss it. I can access the connection settings through Internet Explorer settings dialog. I need only the Local Network Connection icon. Dave.

To enable the password check box you will have to install any of the items from the above list that are missing. Once you install the missing items your password save check box will no longer be grayed out. To add a missing item you will go into Control Panel and click on the Network icon and then choose ADD.

One really only needs to disable file and printer sharing under TCP/IP Dial up networking if any others are removed the Entire Network is gone. In my experience, this is not correct. Disabling File and Printer Sharing has no effect on whether Network Neighborhood and the Entire Network icon are displayed.
